Platform detection system

Improving access for persons with reduced mobility

Designed and developed in close cooperation with the Faiveley design offices, the platform detection system (patent FR2964216A1) has been produced for several years by R&D Vision. The principle of this system consists in rapidly detecting the position of the platform with respect to the train and, if necessary, deploying a boarding ramp to facilitate access for persons with reduced mobility. Several hundreds of regional trains are equipped with this system across the whole of France.

This optical sensor has Class 1 laser line generators (patent FR1353474) and a high-speed camera with an embedded image processing algorithm.

At the time of writing, we already have 1,000 lasers that have left our partner Isinov’s workshops located in St Maur des Fossés and the production schedules promise repeat business for several years to come.
