To address microscopic and macroscopic image acquisition needs in a confined environment, R&D Vision integrated components supplied by STEMMER-IMAGING to produce a multi-purpose digital video recorder (DVR).
The aim was to combine the need for high resolution for microscopic images with long-duration acquisitions (several tens of hours) to monitor the onset of ice in the -40°C cold chamber.
R&D Vision proposed a JAI 5-megapixel camera with a 1" sensor that was compatible with the microscope used by the customer. We mounted the components in a VIDEOTEC protective case with heating and a 20-metre cable that can withstand very low temperatures, for use in cold chambers.
R&D Vision provides complete systems that integrate an acquisition station, for high-speed configurations. In this case, as the acquisition times were long and the speed very low, we were able to remotely install our HIRIS software directly on the customer's computers to control the camera and acquire images. The computers in question were a desktop PC used for the microscope and a laptop PC for the ice in order to transport the equipment easily.
We also provided support to the users of our multi-purpose DVR through a dedicated training course.
