Grape sorting using optical means

R&D Vision has been working with the R&D teams at MHCS since 2016 to develop optical sensors to sort grapes automatically. Based on various innovative technologies such as colorimetry and deep learning, the first systems have been deployed in the production environment (2016, 2017 and 2018 harvests).

This machine, which is integrated on an existing, fully automated sorting line, analyses the grapes contained in crates. It ranks the grapes by quality according to a changing blend that depends on the vintage.

The design created by R&D Vision is modular and could evolve into mobile uses in the field. Watch this space...
