Different solids are subjected to mechanical stresses in traction machines.
The tests were carried out in uni-axial traction, circular, shear, and propagation of a crack. The high magnification (1μm/pixel) and the image acquisition frequency make it possible to follow the position of the grains composing the material over time.
The measurement of the constraints is carried out on the whole of the image by an algorithm developed for this application. These tests provided an experimental validation of the boundary conditions taken into account in the calculation codes.
