8 high speed HD cameras recording system

To study flows in a wave flume of over 30m long, R&D Vision integrated and validated an 8 HD IDS camera recording system operating at over 160i/s.  

The cameras are positioned along the flume and are synchronised to manage acquisitions of several hours of raw data (16To of storage; we will need a good server for archiving ☺). 

The main issues with this project:  

- Ensuring loss free acquisition for the whole 16To 

- Having a 20m long cable with high speeds without getting into overly expensive solutions…  

After a number of qualification test, we decided on USB 3 optical fibre cables.  

HIRIS manages the whole project and the system has been operational since early 2016.
