R&D Vision has developed an image acquisition system suitable for the study of ants moving kinematics in 3 dimensions.The system consists of 5 very high resolution cameras operating at 400 fps, synchronized with each other and with several infrared lights The set is fixed on a mechanical structure designed and made to measure around a glass bridge on which the ants move.
The imaging and lighting were optimized to ensure a subsequent automatic 3D tracking of characteristic points. The goal is to achieve a 3D kinematic analysis to accurately describe the behavior of the insect.
