We have integrated a new very high resolution digital camera into our software tools (CameraTool and HIRIS). This camera has technical characteristics that are very useful for a number of different types of applications. With a 35mm, 29 million pixel sensor and a CameraLink interface, frequency of the images reaches 5Hz with 12bits of dynamic.
Another interesting feature is the PIV mode that makes it possible to capture a pair of images asynchronously with an inter-image time of less than 350ns.
We have recently tested this camera in an experiment to measure the size and shape of droplets by ombroscopic imaging and the images are of very good quality.
Affordable in relation to what it can do, this camera offers new possibilities for metrology applications that require a very high spatial resolution.
